Antimicrobial Photodynamic Therapy (aPDT)
All indications at a glance:
Clinical procedure (Periodontitis/Periimplantitis)
Starting point: Painfully swollen, red gingiva, BOP, PD > 4mm.
Professional cleaning is a fundamental requirement – immediately or after max. 1-2 days: aPDT!
Pathogenic test organisms still present after cleaning!
Application of the HELBO® Blue - important: please apply from the pocket fundus to the crown!
Staining the microorganisms Reaction time 1-3 min.
Before exposure with the HELBO® Theralite Laser => rinse with H2O.
Circular exposure with the HELBO® Theralite Laser => min. 1 min per tooth/cm2.
Attack by oxygen radicals leads to the destruction of the bacteria.
Clinical procedure (Endodontics)
Starting point: Endodontics, Nerve was removed; cofferdam recommended.
Mechanical preparation optimum ISO 45! (per hand or mechanical; afterwards rinse & dry.)
Pathogenic test organisms still present after preparation!
Before application of HELBO® Endo Blue: apply HELBO® Endo Seal in the crown area.
Application of HELBO® Endo Blue – apply from apical to crown.
Staining of the micro- organisms => Reaction time 1 min!
Before exposure with the HELBO®TheraLite Laser => rinse with H2O.
After rinsing: Restless drying with paper tip!
Exposure with the HELBO®Therapielaser => min. 1 min per canal! => preferably near the apex.
Attack by oxygen radicals leads to the destruction of the bacteria.
Obturation! If necessary removal of dye residua in the crown area.
Advantages of the aPDT in Endodontics:
- Quick pain relief
- Takes you closer to the target of the „one-visist-endodontics“ also in case of gangrene
